Who thinks the world will end in 2012?

I have been thinking about this recently and have discussing it with a few friends. There is a documentary made by the History Channel called %26quot;Doomsday 2012: The End of Days%26quot; which almost proves it by the numerous amount of religious, political, philosophic, scientific and revolutionary figures that have predicted world changing events such as the birth of Christ and 9/11 that all claim the world will end on December 21st, 2012 (the winter solstice). Who agrees?
Who thinks the world will end in 2012?
No one I have ever met.

One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or 7057.5 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. This is not a prediction of the end of the world.

Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.

%26quot;But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.%26quot; (Mark 13:32-33)

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.

The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.

Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

With love in Christ.
Who thinks the world will end in 2012?
some astronomer people came to my school and told us that the world would end in roughly 5 billion years. so i don't really think anyone would be alive then that is now. the world would only end because the earth would eventually be pulled closer to the sun and the sun would explode killing everyone

when pigs fly
I don't understand..
it sounds really stupid

It should've happened on June 6, 2006, 6/6/06 but since it didn't, I'll assume we'll be find this time around too.
I don't believe it. If people are looking to find proof of a doomsday then they will.
im not sure.

but thats the year im graduating highschool.

:(
Not with Obama!!
hey for all we know the world could end tomorrow nobody knows for sure remember even the bible said that not even jesus knows
I try not to think about that kind of stuff I always get paranoid about it. But I guess when it happens it happens or IF it happens I really don't know...=[ gah! now I'm thinking about it! %26gt;.%26lt;
No one knows when the world will end. Those kind of shows where people say that scientists have prove of when the world will end is full of it. nly God, knows when the world will end. If you read the Bible, It will te ll you about the world comming to an end. People said that the world was going to end in th e year 2000, but it did not. So what makes you believe that the world is going to end in the year 2012?
come on, these are all predictions but they are not true they have been saying that the world will end for years now, and guess what? we are still alive, aren't we? so yea just don't think about those stuff because they are not true.
Only fools believe this nonsense.
i think is very interesting but the day of the end i do not think we will know it exactly. i heard about this since a kid and i tell at first i was scared but now if that was to be true i think been there to witness the end would be amazingly awesome, it gives a proff of what the world really was like in reality i think.
those who have been prevailed upon constantly- the weak minded ones I mean.( those refuse to know themselves and prefer to know others' bla bla)
i hope it's not true but of course there is always a possibility, especially since we're all messing up the world and with all the theories and stuff. but i read somewhere (reader's digest maybe?) that the world will end in 2018. either way i wanna live until 2077 or something. besides, the evidence about doomsday isnt even precise and it cant be proven true..only as crackpot, paranoid theories. but we'll never know till then so yeah...
morons believe that sheeeeyat
Lots of people will die in any year and their world ends. Plan only for yourself, I am not planning on it
Hmmm, you never know, has as good of a chance as every other year I suppose.
it's not like anyone knows. everyone just goes with theories or ideas. i mean, i could have a %26quot;theory%26quot; that the world will end tomorrow at 6:23 AM, but that doesn't mean it will. Think about it. Just because people are smart and they have smart ideas does not make them right.
Nostradamus predicted the end of the world a little later than that.

He claims a new Arab nation will raise and the 3rd Anti-christ (first 2, Napolean and Hitler) will plunge the world into World War III, thus ending the world.

He claims that the 3rd anti-christ was born somewhere between 1990 and 2001. So 2012 is a little premature for that.
I don't believe in it.

Thumbs me down all you want.
I am sure SOMEthing will happen!
Nobody else has to agree with me, but I'm christian and I don't believe God or Jesus would let the world end. If ur not christian, do u think ur god would let you die like that? I'm pretty sure the world won't end in 2012, but if it does, at least I'll go to heaven. So I think either way there's a positive side.
And how do we even know that %26quot;Christ%26quot; is a real guy or whatever ?

I think its a load of bull!@#$ .

Want to know something else I heard ? the planets are going to be aligned and aliens are going to come take over the earth .

The only way anyone will truely know when the earth will end , is when it actually ends and were all dead .
The world isn't going to end on December 21 2012.

I as well have seen that documentary, and while the arguments seem plausible, there's no actual fact behind it. That's why they can only guess. End-of-the-world hoaxes are a great way for businesses and television stations to make a lot of extra money.

The most popular claim of the world ending is because that's when the Mayan calendar ends. But why should the entire human population believe the predictions of a civilization that couldn't even predict their own downfall?

The other theories and predictions all sound good, but Christians know that God is the ONLY one that knows when the world will end. Jesus doesn't know, Mayans didn't know, modern philosophers don't know.
