I'd say the birth of Jesus. Whether or not you believe, it has affected everything for the past 2000 years.
Personally, I believe in Him.

In recorded human history by far the largest event to date has been WWII. No other event in human history has affected so many people in so many places so greatly; and the war had the incidental effects of ushering in the jet age, the rocket age, the nuclear age, the end of the colonial period, the rise of the two superpowers and the beginning of the cold war. The world would never be the same or even resemble the pre-war world politically, culturally or economically.
