Has the world changed for the better after invention of printing press?

Is not there a need to invent browsers and explorers(on the

lines of those in the Internet)to help select best books on

a subject? The printing press opened floodgates of knowledge for

all humans.The newspaper made the common man immensely

intelligent. But the book trade being a billion dollar industry,

it is absolutely impossible to select a good book.There should

be a reliable rating system'

Printing press: removed the monopoly on information from the church and the aristocracy.



The Dewey Decimal system: made cataloging large collections of books much easier and systematic. We did just fine at libraries with card catalogs, readers guides to periodicals, etc, before libraries became computerized.



Selecting books: I do it the same way I always have. Listen for tips and otherwise %26quot;browse%26quot; (the old fashioned way) the book store for something that looks good.
